Privacy Policy

Data stored by Chassis

You provide vehicle profiles, notes, tasks, build records, purchases, photos, files, imports, and history when you create or import them. Chassis stores this content on your device and uses it only to provide app features. When iCloud is available, Apple's private CloudKit service can sync it among your devices.

Chassis does not operate a server that receives your vehicle repository. Your private iCloud data remains subject to Apple's privacy policy and your device settings.

Chassis does not collect or transmit vehicle identification numbers.

Data you choose to share

Exports and Build Sheets are created on your device. iPhone also offers context snapshots. Data leaves the app only when you copy it or choose a destination through an Apple share or save action. Chassis does not automatically upload, receive, or retain these exports.

Copied context may be available to your nearby Apple devices through Universal Clipboard. A destination you choose controls its own copy under its privacy and retention terms.

Mac files and local drafts

Chassis for Mac keeps records in its app sandbox. Photos selected through Finder or the Photos picker are copied into your records only when you save. Plain-text imports are reviewed before saving; source files are left unchanged. Crop and cutout processing happens on your Mac.

Unfinished notes and guided mod capture can have local recovery drafts. These do not sync through iCloud or appear in repository exports. Saving or discarding removes the corresponding draft after the operation succeeds. Mac backups that you control may include app data. Window restoration stores car and record references locally, and search stays on your Mac.

JSON and PNG save panels let you choose a destination. A chosen cloud-drive folder may sync the saved file under your settings. Chassis removes its temporary export files, but later deleting a Chassis record does not remove copies you exported.

Home Screen widgets

When you add a Car & capture widget on iPhone, your chosen car name, photo and next task can appear on the Home Screen. Turn off Show details in the widget configuration to hide them. Chassis prepares a small, protected display copy locally; it is excluded from backup, refreshed after saved changes, and cleared when you reset Chassis. Original records remain in your normal export. The widget does not send this content to a server. Apple controls widget rendering, privacy settings and refresh timing.

Diagnostics

On iPhone, Chassis keeps limited support events on your device for up to 14 days and Apple MetricKit reports for up to 30 days. They are not sent to Chassis automatically. You can clear them or choose to export a support bundle from Settings. The bundle is designed to exclude vehicle records, notes, photos, and imported data.

App Store purchases

Chassis for Mac is a one-time paid download, with no subscription or tip jar. Apple handles the download purchase and retains its purchase history. Chassis does not maintain a Mac purchase ledger or send vehicle records to a payment service.

On iPhone, you can support Chassis with an optional, one-time App Store tip. Tips do not unlock features. Apple handles payment and purchase history under its App Store privacy terms. Chassis does not receive your payment details or send your vehicle records to Apple's payment service.

Chassis handles purchase verification and completion on your device, keeping transaction information only in memory. It does not maintain a purchase database or include tips in vehicle exports or diagnostics. Deleting Chassis data does not refund tips or erase Apple's purchase history. Manage purchase history and refund requests through Apple.

Support communications

If you email support, Chassis receives your email address, message, and any attachments you include. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards the message to the support inbox. Correspondence is used only to respond, maintain service and security records, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. It is retained only as reasonably needed for those purposes.

Service providers

• Apple provides App Store distribution and optional tip payments, private iCloud and CloudKit sync, system sharing, Photos, and MetricKit.
• Cloudflare provides website hosting, network security, and support email routing. It processes standard network request data when you visit this website.

Chassis adds no website analytics and uses no advertising network, third-party analytics SDK, or external AI provider. Any service provider handling data for Chassis must protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.

Your controls and deletion

• Edit, delete, restore, or permanently remove supported records in the app.
• Export a portable copy of your records.
• Choose whether and where to share data.
• Manage iCloud, Photos, and file access in system Settings. On iPhone, you can also clear local diagnostics in Chassis Settings.
• Request deletion of support correspondence by emailing support@chassis.build.

Deleting the app may not remove records already stored in your private iCloud account. Manage those records through Chassis or Apple's iCloud controls.
